Review on Indoor String Remote Dimmable Voltage by Rachel Murray

Revainrating 3 out of 5

easy to cover a 6 foot long tree.

Pros: - These lights are bright, festive and use little power - Bulbs are extra long: easily cover a 6ft tree with plenty of headroom - Low voltage is great for real trees : they are less fire hazard - remote control makes handling easier - warm white color is nice Cons: - the wire is a very visible white which I don't think you can see in the photos provided. They definitely stand out on a green tree, and some friends thought they were ugly. Personally I don't find them that bad, but I don't think the pictures convey all of the visibility - most 'modes' (e.g. etc. d) are quite annoying and change RPM inexplicably. For example a flash that steadily speeds up until it becomes completely spasmodic until it returns to a slow flash and then repeats the cycle. There doesn't seem to be a way to fix it at its current speed, so it keeps going through these cycles. The only "mode" we can really maintain is permanent mode. The "Remember the mode you're in" feature only works if you set it to the internal timer. Turning the light on/off manually reverts it to "cycle through all modes" - the dimmer doesn't actually work. If you plan on working 6 hours, 12 hours every day and you don't mind white wire, then I think this would be ideal. Although we like 2-3 hours and there's no way to set this, you have to turn it on/off and then change the pattern each time. We'll save and use them, but I think the timer feature does more harm than help, to be honest.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Weight
