The sound stopped working almost immediately

I installed this soundbar with the included optical cable. Worked well, sounded good. But as soon as I moved the soundbar back a little from the edge of the table, the audio cut out and wouldn't come back, no matter what I do. I disassembled and reassembled it but still no sound. I think I have to send it back. Very disappointing.
