Review on ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Protective Carrying Case and Screen Protector for Retroid Pocket 2: Ultimate Safeguard for Your Handheld Retro Gaming System by Michelle Collins

Rugged, well-made case

Initially, I didn't want to spend $20 on a case for my Retroid Pocket 2, which is a whopping 25% of what I paid for the system. However, after looking around for other options and realizing that there weren't any really good alternatives (at least as of February 2021), I went ahead and took this one. I'm glad I did. This case is well-made, durable, and includes an interior zippered pocket with (barely enough) capacity for the 2.6ft USB-A to USB-C cable I bought to charge my RP2. The case is amazingly deep, fits the RP2 snugly, fits the RP2 perfectly, and has a strap to keep it in place. Because the RP2 has a flat right stick, I always slide my system in and out on the left side of the case to avoid snagging on the strap. The strap is delicate and very easy to put on; its tension is just enough to hold the system in place, no more (a rarity in my experience of similar cases). I'm not tempted to cut out the strap this time as it seems more of a feature than a block. I especially like how nice the flash feels. The interior is made of solid polished metal and has an elegant look. The external zips are also of decent quality, kind of rubbery with the Retroid logo/word on it, giving a great textured grip. The only thing that bothers me about the external zips is that there is a lot of resistance to opening and closing the case due to the zip hidden behind the two orange fabric tabs. It also sticks a little in one of the corners and requires some tilt to get around. This is in no way a deal breaker, but a bit unfortunate. However, I haven't come across perfect zippers yet (they all stick a bit somewhere along the way), so I don't mind. As other reviewers have noted, this case is black and orange, not yellow. Revain's photos are a little misleading. This was a pleasant surprise for me as I prefer orange to yellow but keep this in mind if you like yellow more. this letter, and so it was for several months) 10 dollars. I'm not sure how much this adds to the shipping cost (which for me was $10 for RP2) but I believe it's cheaper to buy this directly from the source than here at Revain. Since the RP2 is MUCH cheaper direct from them, buying both together would be the route I would take if I could do it again. For me it took only 15 days from placing the order to handing over the system, although many factors can affect this with worldwide shipping. However, I still believe this case is worth $20. You might be able to get by with an inferior external hard drive enclosure somewhere in the $10-$13 range, but it won't fit your device properly and you're unlikely to be able to carry a charging cable around. Because of the design of the RP2 I think having a case for it is a must. While the buttons are sturdy, they're all very exposed. Shoulder buttons in particular can easily be destroyed with a modest drop on concrete. This one fits the bill well and has a slightly premium feel that makes the whole RP2 experience that much more enjoyable. Highly recommended.
