It's heavier than what I'm used to. But I've had the same hair dryer for 20 years, so I'm not sure I know what the new models look like. I have never used a professional hair dryer before. It was more difficult than expected. If I had to use it in the salon all day, I would choose a different model. However, I use it several times a week, so it's not a problem. I probably wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't been asked if it was light. And it's not. There are three different air pressure settings, three different heating levels and a cold air button. It dries my hair very quickly. Also, the diffusers are screwed a bit to make them stable. They won't fall off in the middle of use. This happened to me with my old hair dryer. i really like this one.
