Good gloves for working with cast iron cookware. The multiple layers of leather really protect your hand for short periods and the large size makes it easy to put on and take off, making it a good combo when working with heat-retaining cast iron. At lower temperatures (350F) they will protect your hand for some time and can run on multiple pans in the oven when seasoning. At higher temperatures you don't have as much time, but still enough time to get them out of the oven onto a wire rack before the transfer of heat through the glove to your hands becomes too uncomfortable. I once took a frying pan out of the 550F oven and set it on the counter with no real harm to me - the glove was burned and smoked a bit (probably from oil buildup on it) but I was perfectly fine. This short duration for higher temperatures is mentioned in the description, so that no disadvantage arises from this. The only real downside I could see is that they retain heat when hot. So if you're constantly handling hot objects (like seasoning a batch of cast iron skillets) you'll feel a constant heat build-up until you pick them up and don't let them cool down. Again, no points for this as it doesn't build up suddenly and you get plenty of warnings as the heat builds up slowly. Will they protect you for a long time? No, because they are not designed for that; but for the brief occasions that most cast iron stoves turn them on and off in ovens/grills/fires, they've worked great for me.
