Review on Crane 13165 Riten Brass Bell by Darion Wooten

That call (probably) saved my life.

The title may sound like an exaggeration, but listen to me. I drive about 60 miles a week in New York and it became clear early in my commuting career that calls are a must for the everyday city driver. After all, nobody will see you, but with this call, they will almost certainly hear you. I almost tripped over the front of a UPS truck the other day. The driver left a stop sign. I pedaled furiously along the bike path, which was partially blocked by parked cars. From the driver's perspective, I was almost invisible. When I was about 12 feet away and getting closer, it started rolling forward. I could have slammed on the brakes and gone over the bars, but instead I grabbed the bell. Heard, looked, stopped. I continued on my merry way, pumped up with adrenaline but almost alive. This call may seem relatively expensive, but compared to the cost of, say, a hospital stay, it's the theft of the century. It works in the wet, makes no noise on bumps, is comfortable to ride, and depending on how far you pull the lever back, you can ride short, crisp DINGs as well as longer RRRINGs. . Bonus: My co-workers seem to take great pleasure in phoning the office, which I think kinda encourages the idea of cycling to work.
