Use cheaper parts, end up losing

Long story: I suspected that the cause was my fault with my old one AGR valve. Code and a poorly running machine. I did a few simple checks by plugging in the vacuum hose and things seemed to be getting better. So I was pretty sure it was because of that. So I ordered it instead of a Ford replacement because it was so much cheaper. When I received the part, I exchanged it immediately and my problems remained. So I figured it must be something else and started swapping out random runaway parts like the vacuum modulator. Which I should have known better because I checked it with a vacuum hose because I finally gave up and took it to a mechanic and $125 later he told me my EGR valve was bad after checking all the parts. Basically he did the same test I did and then checked the EGR valve and said it wasn't working properly. My car drives properly now. moral of this story. Although I saved a lot on random parts, overall I am costing myself from 1 bad part and now have fewer quality parts overall.

Pros

Cons
  • Mostly fine, but...
