The metal shells are removable and have a magnet underneath that works well with my eye shadow. Putty is good, not something I use a lot for. Thankfully, the only thing I don't seem to ruin is my makeup. It has a magnetic clasp so it closes well. The packaging itself is cardboard(?) but still a nice and cool replacement for all the straight black ones I have for my stocks.
