Review on Dorman 628 301 Clutch Line Cherokee by Dave Hess

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Fast shipping, overall good quality! ATTENTION: The supplied O-ring does not fit (too big)!

Package arrived 2 days early. Thanks very much! This was a repeat order for a mislabeled original order. Dorman brand so I trust the quality. Made in China, in case that matters; honestly I'd rather do it in either the US or Mexico. At a quarter of a million miles, I was more worried about the price. Application: 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport XJ 6 Cylinder (4.0L) 4x4 with 5 Speed Transmission. The defective hydraulic line was probably NOT a Chrysler/MoPar (Jeep), but it could be. Master cylinder brand - Lucas USA; There was no manufacturer's mark on the slave cylinder, but it appeared to be of good quality. I decided to reuse both cylinders. Note #1: The new hydraulic line was not an exact copy of the failed line as the replaced line was slightly longer at the top connector than the failed line. As a result, the line is live when it comes into contact with the firewall. This could be due to the fact that the installed master brake cylinder is probably not an OEM Chrysler/MoPar but a Lucas USA. Just for info! Note #2: the o-ring of the lower branch pipe of the power cylinder in the package WILL NOT FIT! It was too big and didn't allow the new line to go all the way into the notch, preventing the barrel pin from engaging. I had to use a smaller o-ring, which allowed the new hydraulic line to be fully inserted and the roll pin to engage.

Pros
  • Secure fit Pre-curved for easy installation
Cons
  • Not the best
