They are very easy to play. The bars are magnetic and the balls are just metal. The balls act as connectors, allowing them to build in any direction. They are colorful and encourage creativity and learning how to work with magnets (parts also repel and attract each other due to their magnetic poles). less likely to put something in my mouth than my 4 year old) had a blast with it. He built a structure on my photographs and made his charming "concentrated face". I'm not worried about them falling off. The original retail price seems a bit high, but at the current retail price it's a very good deal. I might just buy another set so my kids don't fight over it.
