Solder did not melt as advertised

I bought this professional stained glass soldering iron for stained glass work. First, the iron was heated sufficiently to melt the solder. After it didn't have the same heating ability which made soldering almost impossible. Even after the tip has been properly cleaned, it is still ineffective.
