I have tried the Outdoor Research splinter gloves and the Ocun climbing gloves which are considered by many to be the best. There are several improvements in the design of these gloves over the original Ocun gloves and one of them is the strap to make them stay on the wrist more securely. I would say the above gloves run small but these should fit as expected. So if you have medium sized hands I would go for the large shatter gloves or regular Ocun gloves but their medium sized version. In any case, they help a lot to protect your hands when climbing cracks. You might not need them if you're a gym climber, but I would definitely use them if you're an outdoor climber. Splinters are too thin in my opinion. This can be useful for better feeling the contours of the crack, but makes them less durable and less resistant to sharp rocks. The regular Ocun gloves are a bit too thick in my opinion as while they are more durable you can't get your hand through some of the cracks you might otherwise have and also can't feel the stone. That's a good thickness for me. However, if you care more about gloves that last, regular Ocun are probably better.
