Review on Paradigm Monitor Standing Speaker Single by Brian Hazzard

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent value for money

I really like these speakers. Great upgrade over my old Polk RT12 floorstanding speakers. I hear things in music that I've never heard before. I've only had them a week, but I've been listening a lot. You have a great middle ground. Great for jazz, vocals etc. I find them very clear and precise. The bass could have been a bit stronger, but I paired it with a small subwoofer in a 2.1 configuration so they work well together. Depending on your music choices, you may not need a subwoofer. Always yes for movies, you need a subwoofer with pretty much every speaker. They also sound great with new music. I listen to almost everything and they haven't disappointed me yet. I ordered the glossy white version which I think looks very nice. Modern, stylish and goes very well with our theme. The wife also agrees. A note. These are very "talking" speakers (in my opinion) and with poor recording quality they show poor quality. To me that means they are accurate and don't color the sound at all or heat it up in any way. I prefer precision over processed sound that misrepresents music. I particularly like the tweeter. Super clean and clear. Not too bright. Just right, even for a high register trumpet it doesn't get offensive. I paired them with an Onkyo A-9110 integrated amplifier. They work well together. The amp has enough power for them and I never have to go above 50% volume. I'm not a big fan of cheap looking speaker feet, but for the price I understand the need to make cost decisions. I'd rather have better sound quality than better feet in the speakers. And they make a very pleasant sound. Good factory packaging. However, nothing special. Overall I am very satisfied and will be using these speakers for years to come.
