These port converters work as expected
After I plugged the DVI-D to port converter into my monitor's DVI-D port, I connected one end of an HDMI cable to the converter and the other end connected to the HDMI connector. Display port of my KVM switch. The mouse and keyboard work through the kvm switch, but no monitor is found. However, when I unplugged the HDMI cable from the KVM switch and plugged it into my computer, the display worked great. These port converter features helped me diagnose a faulty display port on my KVM switch.
