My first reaction when I opened this was that there are a lot of plastic parts. In fact, the only metal part is the threaded tensioner shaft. I make a lot of small wooden boxes. For tenon or dovetail corners, clamping is easy when "gluing"; Beveled corners are a big problem. This is where a clip like this can come in handy. It would also be useful for making photo frames. Operation is very simple. Wrap the strap around anything you want to pinch. Four angle pieces are screwed onto the band. Position them at the corners, pull out excess slack in the strap and snap into place. Then use the bolt tensioner to apply the clamping force. The plastic buckles lock securely and you can get moderate downforce. The corner mounts are hinged so you're not limited to clamping four-sided objects, although there are only four corner mounts so you may have to do something to keep the extra corners from touching the belt. Belt length exceeds 12 feet. long so you can use this for large objects. The angle brackets extend about 1 3/8" at a 90 degree angle, so 2 3/4" is the narrowest side you can clamp with the angle brackets installed. The kit includes several plastic mounting brackets. This is useful for keeping the corners straight. The inside corners are slightly hollowed out. This reduces the likelihood that they will stick to the workpiece. These mounting brackets are practical but completely independent of the belt clip. All in all, the belt clip is a useful medium-level tool and the mounting brackets are a nice addition.
