Review on ๐Ÿชฅ Oral-B iO Series 6 Electric Toothbrush: Black Lava Edition with (1) Brush Head - Powerful Dental Care by Alexis Leonard

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Prefer an unmanaged, application-managed session. More work needed

Summary: An entry-level Oral-B iO Series model with a new brush head connection and motion-producing design with the same intensity as the Sonicare. The brush head is chunky, which is not suitable for small mouths. It can clean my wisdom teeth a little better in intensive mode than my Sonicare. Average battery drain of 5% to 6% for a 2 minute 30 second brushing session in intensive mode. At least one week of battery life, cleaning twice a day in intensive mode. The app is optional and I think a guided session could have been much better. ************************* This is the new Oral-B entry-level iO series electric toothbrush coming out in 2020. With this toothbrush, the brush head attaches to the handle and motion is created and transmitted upwards to make the brush vibrate. Instead of a vibrating metal D-shaft, it's now a magnet that moves up and down like a piston on a handle, then connects to a metal rod in the brush head that transmits the movement. If I'm correct, that means the oscillating action is moving 568 times per second, which is just over 34,000 times per minute. This is better than my Sonicare 4100, which I measured at 261 Hz. Thanks to the changes, the brush head has become larger. At the top of the neck the diameter is 7.5mm or 5/16 inch and the diameter at the base just above the bottom slot is 14.25mm or 9/16 inch. The bristles at the tip of the rear brush head are 20.5mm or just under 13/16 inches long. Sometimes it's literally a full mouth, and sometimes it was a bit difficult for me to clean the back molar crowns directly and I don't have a small mouth. This will be a problem for those with smaller mouths. I've used this on the heavy setting and have found that it cleans my top two wisdom teeth a little better and removes some of the plaque that my Sonicare may not be doing as well, even after trying their different brush heads on the heavy setting with one session duration of about 2 minutes and 30 seconds is 5 to 6%. I used it for a week before it dropped below 10% and the ring started blinking red indicating a low battery. Batteries with these settings will last for at least a week of cleaning twice a day. It took almost half a day to charge from 8% to 100%. isn't an all-in-one cheaper replacement head option, but at least Oral-B has so far made it easy by only offering two different types of head cleaning: perfect cleaning and gentle cleaning. The tinted clear plastic over the display is easy to scratch. The associated toothbrush app is optional. I've tried both managed (app) and unmanaged (no app) sessions. Unwieldy as expected with a physical/beep when the brush pauses every 30 seconds to let me know to switch sides of my teeth. After the default 2-minute session timer (the timer can be changed in the app) expires, a different tone will play to let you know the session is over, but will continue until you press the power button to stop them. You look at your device with the app installed to see how much time you spend cutting teeth. In the beginning, it's helpful to figure out if you're working on back teeth or front teeth, and it may take some time to figure out if you're working on upper or lower teeth. have a 30-second beep to switch partitions (front, back, top, bottom) or even have a screen reminder to switch partitions. Instead, it's based on a visual display of the tooth pattern, and the area you're brushing will slowly whiten. I focused on a small area rather than a regular swath as simply working on that small area can whiten the visual image without much movement and without having to turn the toothbrush over to brush your back. This can be fixed (does this brush handle support firmware updates?) as the position sensor needs to read when you rotate the brush handle to clean the front, back and crowns of your teeth. The app has a managed reminder to turn it if it doesn't recognize that turning motion. It would also give a better idea of how the person is cleaning. That's quite a big jump in price and performance from my Sonicare 4100 to this Oral-B iO6. I don't use all the features so I find it a bit pricey. But knowing that it cleans my wisdom teeth a bit better, I'm happy with it. The app can be improved. ************************** Please note the incorrect product description. I expect something will be fixed after my review is posted. Only 1 perfectly clean brush head is included in this set. The product title and description during the review mention 2 perfectly clean nozzles, which is wrong. If we go to the Oral B side, there is also a picture showing that we should get 2 tips. Either they pack a second bait or change the name and description. It can really make a difference who buys it or not when replacement brush heads are $13 each in a pack of three for $39.99. 1) The brush head is included with the iO6.
