I'm not a professional, just an amateur photographer. I take thousands of pictures with my Nikons every year. I have rented the Nikon 14-28 many times for vacations but it is too expensive to justify buying it. Enter Tokina. I looked at some YouTube reviews and example photos and thought it was worth a try. This is my first non-Nikkor lens and I'm pleasantly surprised at the quality. To be honest I expected less. I like this lens, it's much smaller and lighter than the Nikon. I mostly shoot with the Nikon D7200 and work with hard cases on a motorbike. As long as the lens goes well, no problems. Pros: Image clarity is amazing. No chromatic aberrations that I could detect at any stop or zoom. Smaller, lighter and cheaper than the big Nikon. Good performance in low light. Cons: The lens is more prone to flare than the Nikon, the lens hood is smaller, which exacerbates the flare problem. Autofocus can be difficult in bright light or when shooting in direct sunlight. More edge distortion than Nikon, but this lens is wider. At the time of writing, Adobe Lightroom (my favorite tool) doesn't yet have a lens correction filter for Tokina, but it does for Nikon, so the comparison may not be accurate. In my opinion, the pros MUCH outweigh the cons here. . I've used both, I've carried this big Nikon across the country and I'm glad I have this lighter weight cousin in my kit. I would buy this lens again at any time. I have attached some photos taken with this lens. All samples were processed in Lightroom, but this gives you an idea of the camera's capabilities and sharpness.
