Fairly true to size, I have large buttocks and hips with a smaller waist so they fit my legs and buttocks a bit but are perfect for my waist, so if you are thicker than snickers i recommend going a size up because they are stretchy enough to fit my waist on the big but give me more room i'm on the buttocks and hips. However they were still comfortable enough to wear for a 10 hour shift in a very hot camp, they are not see through and have pockets on either side so I was able to comfortably hold my phone with my headphones nearby, when I'm not using them
