Before ordering these chargers I read many reviews and some mentioned an improved design. YOU'RE RIGHT. The power cord comes out the back of the charger, making it stable (is that a word? "sturdy"?) on a counter or bedside table. Either way, it's a good deal and they work well. I wanted to put one in my travel set and the other in the kitchen - I like them so much I put the original in my travel set as I don't use it very often.
