Review on Kensington Orbit Trackball Scroll K72337US by Liang Chi-en ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I didn³'t expect the quality to be this good.

This "ball-and-stick mechanism" was purchased to replace the previous Orbit Optical model, which served for several years. Compared to it, the ball of this model moves more smoothly and is less sensitive to contamination of the supports. The material of the ball and its supports is new, obviously more wear-resistant, on the old ball it quickly became covered with small scratches, which worsened the smoothness of the ride. Unlike the old model, the ball is fixed by the protrusions of the body, but if necessary, it is easy to remove it. There is a removable wrist rest made of rubber-like material, extending the body of the manipulator, it turned out to be unnecessary for me. The case does not have any coatings, only simple matte plastic, so there is nothing to peel off during long-term intensive use. Sometimes it is inconvenient that the scroll wheel is not fixed; an accidental touch can, for example, unintentionally change the zoom level. Surprising nothing less than the horse prices of our sellers for this product, as if it were a work of art or space technology, and not a utilitarian input device.

Pros
  • No fatigue during prolonged work; Low sensitivity to contamination of ball bearings; Positioning accuracy; The presence of a scroll wheel; Captive ball; Symmetrical design, equally suitable for both right-handers and left-handers; Practical surface finish;
Cons
  • The scroll wheel does not have fixed positions (ratchet), which can be inconvenient in some cases; Difficulty in sale;

Wrist doesn't hurt! Finally! In general, I ordered from the states, we are terribly expensive, I did not regret it. I got used to it for about a month and a half or two.
