Decent, but by no means puristic.

My large plastic spatula that I bought at Walmart lasted 3 years and worked pretty well until the handle broke. much longer. I've only had it for a few weeks so I'm still getting used to it. I have 2 cats and 2 litters and they both use very heavily so I bought one to test before buying 2 for both litters. Love that it's metallic and durable and it gets the job done. However, the handle is open at the bottom so the edges dig in and it's not the most ergonomic shovel. Not that I expected it, but who knew I'd care? The slots themselves are a little strange. There are holes in the back of the shovel that the stuffing kind of falls through, but that doesn't work very well because the holes are small and far enough apart that the stuffing doesn't fall through. There are slits on the sides that don't work well. The sides are too flat for the big clips. So if you try to sift the litter through the scoop, the large clumps will fall out and create even more mess in the litter. However, all is not lost. It takes time to understand how this shovel works and how best to use it. It took a while but I figured it out somehow. I like it because it's metal, I can pick up lumps that are stuck to the box much cleaner than plastic, and it really picks up most large lumps. I'm still getting used to it. But right now I'm pretty busy with this. It mostly does the job I think. I'll give it a few more months, but I doubt I'll like this scoop at all.
