Review on Epson Home Cinema 1060 Full HD 1080p 3,100 Lumens Projector with 2x HDMI & Built-in Speakers by Sharon Hartmann

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good performance at a great price!

I bought this for a home setup where I use it with a DENON receiver and a 5.1 speaker. I was displaying an image on a 100" Elite Evanesce In-Ceiling Mount Extendable Screen. The projector is ceiling mounted approximately 94 inches from the screen. Primarily it is used for watching movies, sports and children's games. Very good and comparable image quality to OPTOMA projectors in the same class as OPTOMA 1080 Darbee and HD-39 Darbee that I bought. original but returned. The OPTOMA 1080 Darbee had conflicting documentation - in some places it looks like it has a zoom ring, but it actually doesn't and I couldn't adjust the image size. The HD-39 has a zoom ring, but it didn't provide enough magnification to fill the screen where the projector is ceiling mounted. Setup is easy and setting up via the MENU button on the remote is very intuitive. I was able to use the keystone buttons to make fine adjustments to properly position the image on the screen. In my particular case ZOOM worked very well and I had a full picture on a 100 inch screen. The fan is apparently a little louder than the OPTOMA, but it's barely audible when you're watching a movie or playing a game with Dolby 5.1 audio through the ceiling/wall speakers in the room. I miss the EPSON projector's 12V trigger input that I liked in the OPTOMA family. The advantage of this is that you don't have to use separate remote controls for the screen and projector, but I think you gain something and you lose something. I hope Epson will consider including this in future versions of the projector. I intend to overcome this limitation by using the Logitech Harmony remote and programming actions on it. So far I've been very happy with the results of a film that I've already watched on the projector.
