My truck suddenly stopped and I narrowed it down to either an ignition module failure or a crankshaft position sensor failure. Well, it turned out that a crankshaft position sensor had failed (foreign object damage, broken magnet). I'm glad I replaced the ignition module though, because this truck runs like new now! This engine has a double spark plug head and I think that can only happen with one row of spark plugs. This car has done over 250,000 miles so I think a lot of the electrical components are starting to fail. I replaced the entire engine (a long block rebuilt) in 2006 due to low compression and it failed the smog test, but replacing the ignition module resulted in a much more significant improvement in the engine's overall performance. Easier starting, smoother idling, better fuel economy. , More power when you hit the ground. In the future I will buy more components from Standard Motor Products as needed.
