I have used these blades exclusively for shaving for a number of years. I've used other brands of razors in the past but the cartridges cost more than I was willing to pay and I've seen no noticeable improvement in quality or durability relative to the extra price. Van Der Hagen blades combined with a safety razor body/handle (separate) provide a close shave and easy cleaning after each use, extending blade life. I will say as a warning that the blades are sharp; When I first started using them I cut myself quite a bit as I got used to the pressure needed to get a good shave. Now that I've learned how to apply the right amount of pressure and my skin has acclimated, I rarely scratch, but I still shave well. I don't even have to swim against the tide, which I've always had to do with other brands.
