Review on πŸ¦– National Geographic Mega Fossil Mine: Unearthing Rare Fossils by Ted Slaughter

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Ideal for beginning paleontologists of all ages.

We had a lot of fun with this set. Sometimes my daughter wanted to hammer slowly (and the chisel with this set, like all tools, is excellent). In those moments where she was more likely to open up or chip larger pieces, we wet the plaster and it became like creamy clay at its wettest state and was just easier to chisel/cut and less likely to smudge with water from the Brush chipped or peeled off its surface. The only suggestion I have is that plain glasses might be a good idea, especially for those who like to get close. The thickness of the tool handles would be comfortable for small hands and make the tools easier to manipulate, but slipping is possible with such tools. The booklet has helped us identify each fossil and is a keeper to help us remember what each fossil is. The photos were clear and the text informative. The fossils themselves were of excellent quality considering the price of the set. Each piece is smaller than the separately purchased fossils we have and each makes a lovely addition to your collection (ammonite is particularly good). This would be a great way to start collecting fossils in terms of fun and savings.
