I got this for a touchscreen monitor - so it must be solid - I tightened the screws and it feels really bad - it moves too much on the mounting shaft , It won't fall, but the goal is for the post to be stationary, which it isn't - it needs the top bar to have 2 screws, it has one, so it has a little hinge on the hinge. under the ceiling, not good - just another 4 inches at the ceiling joint and 1 extra hole and this would eliminate the downside, while I'm looking for an alternative this is essentially rubbish
