Review on Black Canon CanoScan LiDE400 Document Scanner for Improved SEO by Somsak Saladang ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The quality was generally satisfied, there were minor shortcomings.

After installation on Windows X Pro, the software was "lost" in an incomprehensible place and access to it for configuration could not be found. It opens in auto mode only when connected to a working computer via a USB port. The documentation consists of huge, repeatedly folded paper "footcloths" that are replete with security warnings in different languages and other protocol nonsense. As for the features of working with software and the correct installation of the necessary parameters, then there are complete seams. Nothing clear could be found. Turning on auto mode almost always converts the scanned document or photo to PDF format, while we only need the usual photo mode (jpg, RAW and the like). Recently, it only makes PDF by default, with which none of the photo editing programs installed on our PC work. In general, a terrible disappointment compared to our old Epson Perfection 1250 15 years ago, which faithfully served in conjunction with the iMac. There was a simple and intuitive software + slide scanner, and the price (in dollar terms) is almost the same. Do the gentlemen at Canon really not understand that consumer scanners require the most simple and understandable software with an illustrative interface, or at least something similar to something decent instruction in the form of a small book?

Pros
  • Quite compact and lightweight, powered by a PC, so a separate block for plugging into a power outlet is not required.
Cons
  • Mediocre software and vague instructions, because of which working with this device turns into a complete disappointment.

Got pros: 1) Scan quality 2) Easy to connect 3) Small dimensions 4) Acceptable price With its cons. The construction of the scanner itself feels rather flimsy, but it's hard to expect anything else at this price.
