I shoot most of my photos with either 23mm or 35mm equivalents - formerly the Sony a7iii and now the Fujifilm XT3. I switched to the Fuji world because I didn't particularly like the 35mm options that the Sonny world offered me. So I started with the Fujinon 23mm/f2 (equivalent to 35mm). It wasn't as sharp as 16mm/f2, especially at close range. At long range, he also showed a non-standard performance, in my opinion. I have never bought a Fujinon 23mm/f1.4 as the reviews showed only a slight improvement in sharpness both at close and long range. With the 16mm/f2 and especially with the Fujinon 16mm/f1.4, which is now my absolute favorite and only rarely leaves my camera, all ratings were excellent. Surprisingly it was Viltrox 23mm/f1.4 when he left. I find it sharp, responsive, and endowed with a smooth, soft tonality that makes colors vibrant yet subtle. I especially like it for portraits. The bokeh isn't perfect, but it does the job. And more importantly, faces and especially eyes are accurately captured even in the dark. I was initially skeptical due to the fact that it's made in China and the relatively cheap price, but after using it for about a month I have only positive things to say about it. With my Fujinon 16mm/f1.4, the Viltrox 23mm/1.4 is always with me.
