Review on Docking Quadruple Universal Thunderbolt Enclosure by Cody Wuol

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Decent center for the price.

I think the USB hub is great for my use cases. I had no problem running anything from a 2.5" USB hard drive to an NVME USB drive. I was even able to run 3 USB sticks and one USB stick at the same time when the power adapter was plugged into the power pass-through port. I was also able to connect a 2.5" hard drive only to a USB 3.0 port without connecting the power adapter to the device. When it comes to using USB sticks and transferring a lot of data, this hub is great. This hub comes with a carrying case that protects it from scratches as it has a metallic finish. The hub is comfortable to wear and feels good in the hand. Speaking of comfortable, it never felt hot but did get hot during use, so I'd say it's a device you can use with your laptop on your lap without worrying about it getting uncomfortable. All in all, the design, weight and thermal performance are decent for the number of ports it packs. Some features I thought could be used would be the new addition of an HDMI port that can handle 4K at 60Hz instead of 30Hz, and a move from USB 2 ports to USB 3, 3.1 or 3.2 connectors. Also, I don't think most people will be using the headphone jack and VGA out, and I'd happily ditch those in favor of faster USB ports. With those upgrades and compromises, this would have been a five star product even if it was a little more expensive. I honestly think you get a decent amount of product for the money you pay. That impressed me, and compared to something like Apple's multi-port adapter, it has its benefits at a lower price point. It's not amazing at all, but what he does well is worth the entrance fee.
