Couldn't be happier!

I bought this camera before I went to Europe. I spent a lot of time comparing and contrasting cheaper point and shoots before finally pulling the trigger on this 960IS. I've been wearing it for 4 months now, had the opportunity to test it and can now tell you enough Revainer colleagues! with phenomenal images just like you would capture with a DSLR. It just won't happen. That being said, I'm consistently impressed with what this camera is capable of. The resolution is incredible, it handles light well, and there are lots of fun color balance presets to play with. 2) Flash leaves a lot to be desired. He LOVES taking bright shots of objects in the foreground and darkening the background. There is a setting for a slow synchro flash to light the background. Just make sure you hold your camera steady or use a small tripod. However, I prefer to shoot with the flash off and it gives great night shots. They are not grainy at all and are actually quite pretty. 3) My obsession with the ELPH line has always been aluminum cases. It's (at least as far as I can tell) plastic. For that price I wanted aluminum. But it holds up very well and in combination with a small suitcase that shouldn't be a problem. 3) I never thought I would ever use the video feature. But that's changed: we've recorded little snippets to take home for open mic nights, concerts, and other sightseeing adventures. The video is actually quite good and the audio is better than you would expect. Again, this isn't professional level, but it's very impressive. 4) He jumps up quickly and has those "Oh wait, let me take a picture!" moments that are easier to capture. It processes images quickly and is almost immediately ready for the next shot. 5) I fell in love with the wide angle lens. He manages to open the field of vision wider than I thought. There were many times I wanted to take a landscape shot and thought I had to go back 15 feet only to find the camera could do it. 6) The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the lack of a metal body and the sometimes incredibly annoying flash. All in all, a great, compact little camera that has served me well and will not let up. If you're looking for a new soap dish, I think this is one of the best options money can buy. It's compact, fast, takes great pictures and is easy to take with you. A wide-angle lens is essential. You will NOT be disappointed with it AT ALL!
