Great lens, great value at an unbeatable price. It's cool IF you can get a good copy. However, as many on the internet have said, the lens has many mismatch and misalignment issues. I've heard about this problem from a lot of people online, but figured if it was at least consistent enough, I wouldn't mind keeping a lens that costs under $300 and is so specialized that I rarely use it anyway would. . Instead, I received a virtually useless lens. According to my tests, the lens has good center focus and excellent light intensity due to the large aperture. However, the entire right side of the lens is FULL of MUDA and blurry. It's just unusable as the right side of the lens is so bad I wouldn't hope to shoot anything from the right side and expect it to be sharp. The next photo was taken at f2.8 on the A7rii and with no sharpening, just overexposure and no cropping. As you can see, the right side is TERRIBLE. Even when stationary, the improvement is minimal, but the left-right comparison is perfectly acceptable. This is due to off-center or some lens elements that are off-center, tilted, or uneven. I have several other examples and they all show the same output. LensRentals reviewed Samyang/Rokinon/Bower lenses and they are all sold by the same company under different names. LensRental concluded that they are great value but the quality control and materials used are terrible. While most lenses use metal, screws and thick-walled material, Rokinon lenses make heavy use of plastic and GLUE! As a result, copy variations are VERY INCONSISTENT and there are many internal elements that shift, break, or shift out of position and orientation. LensRentals says Rokinon/Samyang lenses are the most commonly repaired by them. With these lenses you are practically lucky in the lens lottery. You can get excellent copy with superb sharpness, or you can end up with potatoes like I did. MAKE SURE THEY HAVE BEEN TESTED EXTENSIVELY before deciding to save!
