I imported a strange motherboard and one of the many strange things about it is that the motherboard doesn't have a pin header for power from the PSU, only a 4-pin header for processor power that covers the entire board powered. While this is sufficient to power the board, without a motherboard header the PSU will not turn on at all to output power. So the solution I found was to stick a paperclip into the motherboard cable to make the PSU source power and power the motherboard. I chose this adapter instead as it is more reliable than a paper clip and of course works great. Now I can easily power this weird motherboard from my PSU.
