***UPDATE (Aug. 2015)*** it took about 3 months to expire. At first the sound in the left earphone disappeared, a couple of weeks later the microphone itself disappeared. The sound with them is quite good, but the microphone leaves much to be desired. I found that during a conversation I had to press the microphone to my lip to be heard. beyond that, and I repeat everything I say to whoever I say it to. which invalidates the "hands-free" aspect of a microphone in the first place. For now they fit but I will definitely buy another pair with a better mic.
