I've had aquariums all my life but over the last 8 years I've taken them more seriously. I found a great forum and most of them recommended this product. I took the plunge and have been using it for 6 years. Pros: It seems to do a great job at cleaning water - it's a thankless job, but something has to do it. Cons: Smells bad (perhaps a plus for jokes?) but the smell goes away once you add water. I usually measure out the right amount and then pour it into the bottom of a 5 gallon pitcher of water. I fill the pitcher and then use it to fill the tank. This worked great for me, both in freshwater and in a freshwater aquarium. This bottle should last you for a while unless you have a huge reservoir (100g+).
