Hello! I would say I was a little confused by the label on the container: Lanolin. What? Where's the beeswax and avocado oil? That's what the Effax website says, but not the box. However, I emailed Effax and they confirmed that their balm contains beeswax (I wanted) + lanolin + avocado oil. FURIOUS! I have confidently used it on my Alpinestars leather motorcycle boots. Since the balm is thick (with beeswax), I warmed up the boots with a hair dryer and applied the balm "without mercy". I left it overnight and polished my boots in the morning (old school/military style). I can't say that the boots started to shine like a mirror and that wasn't my goal. I ride a sportbike almost every day for at least 45 minutes each way in heavy rain in Vancouver, BC. These boots were the most waterproof, but Effax helps them stay that way. There was no more water on them! OH YEAH! Effax Balm's smell doesn't appear to be chemical (and I'm pretty sensitive to bad chemical smells). It smells kind of, but normal for me. The color of the balm is yellowish, but when applied to the heated surface of the skin, it becomes quite transparent and does not leave yellowish marks on the skin. Since we are talking about beeswax, I can say that the balm is durable, reliable, more resistant "soldier" from rain. I mean heavy rain. Good for apocalyptic movies. I have also used the previous Effax balm on leather motorcycle gloves and jackets with great success. It has saved my skin for many years of riding. Overall, all my leather goods seem to be very happy with the Effax Balm (soft and dry). Effax Hautbalsam is made in Germany. This is what it says on the packaging as we were able to find this information on the Effax website. I hope I have given you a good idea about this balm. I won't hesitate to buy it again once I've finished this one. God my friends!
