If I were to add something to this product it would be some kind of screen around the lower air intake. This must match the quality of the glassware to mix properly. It should slide so you don't have to remove the strainer to adjust the water flow. He should also install the screen about 1/4 inch from the glass tube with the screen wrapped all the way around. This will ensure that the bottom air intake does not become clogged. When clogged, the skimmer is sucked below the surface of the water, allowing char or smaller shrimp, fish and floating plants to get into your filter. I couldn't find the right size to buy one that worked. I bought two black rubber washers and a window screen and made them myself. Works well but looks bad. I couldn't find any parts to complement the glass tube design at my local hardware store. Maybe the manufacturer could, I would buy one if they did. This idea is just to make a great product better.
