Review on Ergotron HX Single Ultrawide Monitor Arm - VESA Desk Mount for Monitors Up to 49 Inches, 20 to 42 lbs - Polished Aluminum: Enhanced Comfort and Space Optimization by Thomas Chalecki

Perfect for Cintiq 27QHD

I chose Ergotron's strongest mount for the new Cintiq 27QHD. The mount is rated at just under 40 pounds and the Cintiq weighs just under 20 pounds, so the mount provides good support for the screen. The mount is rigid enough that the screen doesn't move at all or noticeably wobble - I expected the Cintiq to need to be held on a desktop, but found I was able to keep it floating and work on it with ease. Articulation is limited compared to other Ergotron arms, but I prefer stiffness over agility. The hand doesn't have much reach either. This is fine with most non-Cintiq monitors, but if you want the screen to sit near the front of a table or be able to fall off the edge like a standard stand, you'll need to use an alternative clamping method to move the screen Screen. forward (the hand allows two types of cocking). To do this, you need to drill a 5/16 inch or 3/8 inch diameter hole in your desk. So if your desk is expensive and deep, note that you can't slide the screen far forward. Exact drawings with dimensions can be found on their website. .Material and build quality are impressive. I ordered an aluminum finish but there is some extra white plastic which looks nice. The milling is precise, the finish is great, the castings are impressive. There's even a bronze bushing for the pivot hinge on the base - that's the kind of touch I personally like. All in all I'm very satisfied - about half the price of the Wacom Ergo Stand, it's a lot lighter, sleeker and a lot more functional in my opinion. For example, if I want to work standing up, this hand allows me to or when I'm using my eye close to the screen but don't want to lean, I can make the screen almost horizontal and bring it close to my eyes. It eases my neck and the screen is still stable enough to work with. In my opinion this is the perfect solution for the Cintiq 27QHD.
