Review on SMALLRIG Ballhead Multi Function Adapter Ronin M by Renz Alexandria

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Surprisingly versatile.

I use this for my home streaming setup to position the Atomos Ninja V directly under my mirrorless camera lens (to monitor when streaming full screen give me one Focus Point , which looks like I'm looking at viewer, observing frames, etc. I attached it to the top of the tripod (shown in the picture), specifically around the body of the molded leg (rather than the possibly fragile carbon legs). Too much clamping force had me supporting the ninja's weight at such a weird angle but it works SO well and really couldn't get better.I like the ability to quickly loosen a knob, move the entire rig and just snap this guy back on clamp - Build quality: built like a tank - LIKE the main clamp arm and clamp in general - Sometimes is it difficult to lock enough to prevent slipping - Inco resistant materials. Much of it, like the main tension arm, is a CNC (read: precision cut) work of art, but other parts appear to be made from cheaper cast material (like the internal ball joints). It doesn't affect performance in the slightest, but it's an odd mix IMO. SUMMARY If you want small bits that clamp at odd angles (with holes for mounting on a tripod), buy them. Instantly.

Pros
  • High test scores for support and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
