Review on BUNN 52700 CSB2G Speed Brew Elite Coffee Maker Gray 10-Cup: Premium and Efficient Brewer by Tanya Reed

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Finally a coffee machine that simply makes hot coffee!

This is what I've been looking for for decades. No frills, foolproof (if you go through the one-time 10-minute setup process), well-designed coffee maker. No programming required, no timer, no clock, semi-permanent tank heater switch (turns off when you go on vacation) and carafe heater switch that stays on until you turn it off, making the coffee left in the jug always stays hot. Ever had a power outage and your coffee maker lost all programming functionality, leaving you frustrated trying to remember which buttons to press to get everything back to your liking? No more hassle with it, it's just a real nuts and bolts construction that serves one purpose: a super-fast pot of flavored hot coffee at just the right temperature. I drink coffee all day and this is the last time I do it. 40 plus years. I'm not interested in Starbucks or any other expensive designer stuff. I prefer old diner coffee served hot and black and this one delivers. Although I'm sure coffee artists can satisfy their own taste buds to their own satisfaction. I currently use a 32 ounce insulated coffee mug, which keeps my coffee hot until it's empty. My only complaint is that this Bunn coffee carafe (pot) weighs only 50 ounces, but that's easily made up for by the super-fast post-processing. By simply adding a spoonful of coffee grounds (I only change the filter for the first morning cup) and fresh water, you have a full cup of hot coffee in just 3-4 minutes. There is an easy to read fill mark just below the fill cap, but the amount of water added (after initial tank setup) is the exact amount poured back into the pot. The water tank always holds 50 ounces (full tank) of hot water on standby and you cannot over or under fill it. Mounted on the lid of the water tank is the Fresh Pot Control Switch, where a constant electrical current keeps a full pot of hot water ready to use at all times. Closing the water filler cap starts the process immediately. Just remember to turn off the stove when you go to bed or have your last cup of the day. Despite being left overnight once, what was left in the pot didn't burn, it just needed a quick rinse and was ready to go. My dear wife usually puts in a new thick filter and fills the pot with fresh water before bed and closes the filler cap first thing in the morning. And while there's no "sneak-a-cup" feature, this machine makes a full pot so fast you don't need to! And he never overcooked or cooked soil back into the pot. I noticed that a reviewer claimed such an experience, but I don't see how that is possible. It uses an angled spray function that hits the undersides of the filter, always drenching the entire thickness and leaving it on the bottom. So many different coffee makers have been tried over the years with useless programming features, a hotplate that automatically shuts off after 2-2 hours. After about 4 hours I finally found the perfect solution with this Banna block. And the bonus is that it's made in the good old USA with a 3-year factory warranty. This alone should be the decisive sales argument today. If this lasts longer than the warranty period and meets the only requirement I ask, it's a sold 5 star rating for me! A bit pricey maybe, but at least my money isn't going to an enemy nation that wants to destroy us!

Pros
  • Brews a large travel mug (20 oz) into a full pot (50 oz)
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
