Overall a good product, useless for measuring fat

I wanted to spend quite a bit of time on this before writing a review. I bought it at the beginning of the calorie restriction phase and now I have reached my goal. I'm a male bodybuilder, at 5ft 10" my weight usually fluctuates between 225 and 240 depending on the phase of the workout. Although I wasn't expecting much in terms of body fat tracking since electrical impedance devices are notoriously unreliable and inaccurate. , For this specific purpose I found the same problem with this article. Overall the product and quality is good and as a digital scale I am happy with the weight, bone mass and water mass ratings. Anything that seems accurate enough and consistent with the readings. Let's get back to body fat measurement. I now regularly check my body fat with a skinfold caliper for more accurate readings. I thought the device would, at least when used as intended (always used at the same time of day under the same conditions) - show the continued progress I was making. To be honest, it wasn't even good for her. In the beginning, the percentage was always 10+ points above my actual body fat percentage. Although my actual recorded progress has shown consistent, consistent and progressive reduction in body fat. the scale will go up and down 2+% points from one day to the next. but always more than double my actual measurements. In fact, it didn't even drop below 20% (which I'm actually at around 9% right now) until my weight dropped below 225. While I'm no expert on digital scale technology, this suggests that the algorithms used use your body's weight as part of the equation; as would most doctors using BMI. As I understand it, this is really unacceptable, especially for a device that has specific settings for athletes. This feature was a key selling point for me as it suggested, albeit slightly, that athletes' physical attributes were being portrayed, but that was clearly not the case. If you're constantly changing your body composition, the device should at least show progress in the right direction, even if the number isn't accurate, but still, it was a bug with that particular feature. Otherwise it is well made and has a very good digital scale. However, if you need at least a general idea of your body fat percentage, check it out at your local gym or university.
