Review on ๐ŸŒž Highly Efficient PV Module - Newpowa 10W 12V Monocrystalline Solar Panel for Enhanced Battery Trickle Charging in Boat, RV, Gate Opener, Fences, and Off-Grid Applications by Richard Payne

Revainrating 2 out of 5

3-4 watts at absolute peak

Only about 4 watts at absolute peak, about 16 volts (manually "Tracking Maximum Power Point" was done to find it), in Texas at noon, just before the summer solstice. At 13V to charge the battery it's more like 3W as it's an almost constant current source so lower voltage means less current. 2 stars only because the rating is ridiculously overrated. I would leave it at 5 watts. And the "junction box" doesn't appear to be sealed on the back, but I didn't pry it open to be sure. If you're using it outdoors, plan for some sealant where the cable enters. Also, I knew this was happening so this is just a note for those who are about to get scammed by the market crap. It doesn't have a charging circuit, so leaving it connected to the battery for a long time won't keep it going. It either slowly recharges when the battery is not being discharged, or discharges when it has a discharge greater than the panel's average output. This has to be used manually or with a separate charge controller (which I'm currently looking for).

Pros
  • That's amazing
Cons
  • Lots of stuff
