will not bend 90 degrees - snaps into place

I bought four of these for stage lighting and they all had this problem. First the positive. This was the only block I could find for this purpose that wasn't a standard gooseneck. I just wouldn't trust this spotlight design, not even the lighter LED spotlight. Second unique. The ball swivel has a "stop" so it cannot twist the wires inside as expected. But in addition there is a ratchet on the thread, which clicks when the knot is screwed in clockwise. This may have been done to prevent over-tightening, but as a result you cannot "screw it in" like other bulbs. And since the ball swivel is intentionally rigid (to hold position), aiming the bulb counter-clockwise can cause the blue to come loose. The workaround is to hold the square base (just above the socket) while you line up the bulb. Third, the inability to bend a full 90 degrees. Many of you don't really need that much flexibility, so you can stop reading and let your light shine. My application is on the side of a ceiling joist so I need a complete right angle. I don't think this mistake is dangerous as long as you don't use excessive force to make a right angle. This can break the wires. I was able to fix the problem, but of course the buyer didn't have to tinker with the product. A big word of caution for those of you who like to tinker: make sure the ball assembly is seated securely in one half of the lid. It has a strong spring inside that is almost impossible to reassemble once it comes out and bursts. The device is assembled at the factory in a straight position and the wires are routed tightly from the ball to the rest of the body. There is something like a chamber for cords in the case before they connect to the outlet itself. Between this chamber and the bullet is a part of the body that clamps the wires. Therefore, forcing the ball to bend a full 90 degrees will not work and may damage the wires. The solution is to pull some "slack" out of the chamber under the socket and into the area above the bullet. You will need pliers or needle nose pliers to do this and it is difficult to hold the nest pieces in place. So "relax” – not quite the right word. Once there is enough wire in the ball area to bend it 90 degrees, you can carefully assemble the device. So if you don't need a full right angle, that's fine. If so, it's poorly assembled, but remember that in most cases it only aims once or twice when new. I'm sure it will serve me well once corrected.
