Lots of good, some bad (grainy image at night)

GOOD: Works very well in daylight. The connector from the camera to all the cables that come with the camera is small and works well for those hard-to-reach places (didn't have to drill very large holes). The ability to toggle parking rules on and off is a good thing (my car stereo does it, so I didn't need a camera for that). Being able to toggle image inversion on and off is a good thing (I flipped the camera upside down so I didn't have to flip the image, but some people might want to flip the camera upside down). The red wires connected to the RCA cable are handy. BAD: The picture is very grainy at night. Although it generally works fine. If you're in the habit of driving your big truck into tight parking spots at night, this camera probably isn't the best camera for you. My wife's VW Beetle stock camera has a MUCH better picture at night (but comparable in daylight). Installation was pretty easy, but the instructions aren't too clear. Here's how I connected it: 1. Drilled a hole in the license plate "canopy" on the tailgate of my Toyota 4Runner. 2. Pull the wires into the car through the hole. 3. Screw the camera tight. 4. Route the cables through the inside of the tailgate, through the rubber tubes, into the headliner, through the headliner to the front of the vehicle, down/behind the driver's side pillar (next to the windshield) and into the dash. 5. A yellow RCA video cable connected to my stereo head unit. This allows you to transfer videos from the camera to the main unit. Next connect the power supply. There are short red wires at each end of the video cable. At the end at the front of the car I found the wire that powers my reverse lights. I cut this wire and put the red wire from the video cable in it. At the end, which is on the back of the car, I connected the short red wire that connects to the video cable to the red wire that connects to the camera. There is a black wire also connected to the cable. I simply removed the insulation and routed the wire under the stud in the tailgate. The black wire is the ground wire, so it can be attached to any metal in the car.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • I have no negative feelings about it, it's ok
