Great idea for stability.
They worked great with the sturdy audio cable to complete the look. Basically, I wanted to reinforce a potential break point where the wires exit the insulation. It's not heat shrink tubing, although I haven't tried it. If you need to be very tight, look for heat shrink instead as they will move a bit when you insert the wire into the terminals.
