Used these lamps as a replacement for my night lamps. They're about as bright as my 7 watt incandescent bulbs, but only draw 1 watt (according to the spec). The lamp is not fully inserted into the fixture, but this does not affect the function. If the bulbs are exposed - they don't look as pretty as fully seated bulbs - you may see a gap in the base. But since they are behind the screen of my lamp, they are not visible. In addition, the base is metal and open. Does this pose a slight risk of electric shock if the base is exposed? Possibly - but then again - not a problem for me, since the light bulb is covered by the lampshade. I wouldn't use these lamps if they weren't shielded. Also, they don't work in my day/night dimming device. This particular fixture dims the bulb depending on the ambient light - the bulb flickered like crazy. So good for normal night lights, but not for dimmable day/night lights.
