I've had this jar for a few months now and it's been great. I only use it to brew kombucha. There were no leaks or problems with hot and cold liquids. Can't speak for the lid as I've never used one as kombucha uses aerobic fermentation. nose quality. I learned a long time ago (the hard way) that setting them up takes a delicate touch. It should be firm enough to compress the silicone gaskets and create a seal. Not so tight that the seal is crushed or the glass is broken. I have done both. I am very happy with this purchase and glad I spent a little more. This is my second glass from this company. The other is great too. It came with a lower quality plastic spigot that was used continuously for about 3 years.
