I saw a lampshade that I wanted to use in my guest room at a great price so I decided to buy this pendant light to make my pendant light in our guest room. It cost me less than $20 to make. The only thing I didn't consider was the size of the hole needed to install the socket with the switch. I had to disassemble the socket to run the cord through the shield, which took me about an hour to figure out how to do, but it worked! So keep that in mind when using a lampshade.
