Review on BEHRINGER UM2 Audio Interface with XLR/TRS, 1/4", USB, and RCA – Black, 1-Channel by Riko Long ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A really necessary purchase, Im glad I found this product.

Actually the main purpose - connecting a condenser microphone with phantom power BM-800, it performs perfectly. For the sake of phantom power, I bought it. The built-in sound card gave a very weak sound - you literally had to shout into the microphone. Plugged in the UM2, toggled the "phantom power" switch and was amazed at the sensitivity of the mic. You can speak in a whisper at a distance of 2 meters - and this is perfectly written on the sound card. However, you can hear everything - how dogs bark in the street, how neighbors swear behind the wall. The card has only 1 channel. Or a guitar (line-in) or a microphone (XLR) - ie. You cannot connect 2 devices at the same time. The guitar (acoustic Ibanez PF15-ece) is not written very well. The sound quality is so-so. I would say that the guitar sounds better through the microphone than through the line-in.

Pros
  • The most budget sound card with phantom power support
Cons
  • The guitar (when connected to Line-in) does not sound very good. The feeling that undercuts the lower level. Volume on the guitar at the maximum, Gain on the sound card - at 90%. Seems like it lacks reinforcement.
