Low expectations

Let me start by saying that I am not a professional DSLR photographer. I bought the TS25 because I knew it was an inexpensive compact camera, but I wanted something I could easily carry in a life jacket while kayaking. However, I was disappointed with the quality of the photos and videos from this camera. Photos are often a bit noisy ("grainy") with fairly obvious JPEG compression artifacts. Video isn't particularly clear either, and the audio has an almost continuous buzz/chirp in the background, presumably due to the autofocus motor. If you were recording something quiet with this camera, I think you would be very unhappy with the unwanted noise that the camera is adding to the audio track. So. Yes, it's small, fairly durable, and waterproof (although I haven't tested it underwater). But neither the photos nor the videos are as clear as we would like, and the engine noise in the video can be very distracting. I haven't tried any other cameras in the point-and-shoot category and it's probably the best you can expect for a few hundred bucks. Just don't expect too much from him.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Very expensive
