In general the shoes are not bad. They look very elegant and go well with my business attire. They were slow to wear in at first and didn't stretch as quickly as I expected. A hole to put your foot in doesn't offer many options. For the first two weeks, they probably rubbed my toes so hard that I had to wear thicker socks. Since then, they've been weakened, but not as strong as we'd like. It seems to me that the cut of the shoes is a bit narrow, and even my foot isn't wide. My other issue with them is the decorative metal chain that goes on top. Looks good but makes a tinkling sound when walking. The part is loose, not glued or sewn to the boot as I thought. I'll wear them until they're worn out and then I'll look for other shoes. You get style points, so if that's what you're after then these shoes are for you. They still work for me.
